After working in filmmaking for several years, I returned to stills because it allows me to continue creative work while being a full-time caregiver to my two youngest children. Working specifically in digital has been a boon to my production and quality of work.
The intuitive style in which I shoot is documentary and I work to emulate the wonderful social photographers Diane Arbus and Dorthea Lange, and the war photojournalist James Nachtwey.
In terms of wedding photography, I trust the book by Bambi Cantrell and Skip Cohen as a wonderful guide for the photographer as well as the bride and groom.
The images that are really important are the ones that capture the true character of the moments and people in our lives.
There need be no compromise to having those images saved for posterity.
